Hi, my name is Lynnsay…
I am founder of Evolve Pilates and Rehabilitation, mum of 2 sports mad boys and movement lover.
I started practicing Pilates after injuring my back whilst pushing a car that was stuck in a snow drift! I realized that in order to sustain my working life (rehab physio is strenuous at times) and to future proof my body to be an active, fit and healthy Mum, I needed to build this form of movement therapy into my life permanently.
As a physiotherapist I had been teaching movement including Pilates exercises for many years but was keen to formalize my education and so completed my APPI mat work certification. Having analyzed and taught movement for many years in a hospital setting it was a nice opportunity to take these skills and combine the Pilates approach into a class setting with a different demographic.
I cannot hide my passion for all things brain based! I’m fascinated by how the brain influences movement. As such I include many techniques that encourage neuroplasticity within our class. Little brain hacks are thrown in to help you achieve a movement or tweak your technique. There is a strong emphasis on brain/body connection that I believe makes our classes fun, varied, interesting a just a little bit unique!
I love that Pilates is for everyone. No matter what level of fitness you are, Pilates can help. If you have a medical condition that limits your ability to exercise, I have the background knowledge to understand your condition and modify the movement to make it accessible for you. It really can enhance your life! ‘Movement is medicine’ is my mantra!
